About us
“Since March 2020, we’ve served ten’s of thousands of pizzas across hundreds of events and venues”
The Story
Since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a chef and working with fresh, wholesome ingredients. I have always been intrigued by innovative cooking methods and flavour combinations. This passion for food was sparked during my holidays at a farm in North Wales where my Uncle and Grandparents lived. Being in close proximity to the source of food production and cultivation instilled in me a curiosity about the process of cooking real food from the land.
This passion led me to study at the culinary section of Bath College straight after secondary school which really opened my eyes and broaden my horisons. I did well whilst at college, achieved a Merit and helped my team of 3 win the prestigious Chef Vs Chef competition. It was whilst I was at college, I purchased the horse trailer you see today from a Lady in Oxford who had been using the trailer to transport horses for the past 40-odd years. Needless to say that it was in disrepair but as a 17 y/o lad it was mine and I had visions of what I wanted to create.
In September 2018, the process of converting the trailer began. With my Dad's engineering work in the RAF, my studies at college, and a part-time job, spare time was hard to come by. Nonetheless, we enlisted the help of many friends and family members to work tirelessly on the project, converting and refurbishing from the ground up.
Throughout the conversion process, I acquired a range of practical skills, such as welding, precise manufacturing, sanding, painting, and shot blasting among many others. These skills were essential in transforming the old horse trailer into the impressive mobile wood-fired pizza trailer that you’ll find at Wiltshire’s best private events.
After much work, the trailer was completed just before the COVID-19 pandemic’s lockdowns were enforced. All of the events we’d been working on for years prior were cancelled, which seemed like a massive setback at the time. Whilst it was in the short term, we diversified and had to shift our way of thinking.
After some research, I found out that running a delivery service from my driveway in Royal Wootton Bassett was possible. I increased the radius we served each week by posting flyers through people’s doors in the areas I could serve and deliver to.
This service blew up beyond all expectations and I had people all over Wootton Bassett asking when their streets would be in the delivery radius.
As a then 18 y/o business owner this was a dream come true after all the work everyone involved had put into the business and due to COVID setbacks. Safe to say I was ecstatic… The problem was, we needed to expand off of my parents driveway.
I contacted local businesses in my town of Royal Wootton Bassett to see if there was a space we could set up and have customers come to collect as deliveries and cooking for hundreds of people were too much to manage.
Nik at Marsh Farm Hotel in Royal Wootton Bassett got back to us and they were gracious enough to host us on a Friday & Saturday. No pitch fee, just some pizzas for the family!
This is the point things really took off, with a quick Facebook post on our local town social page, we reached over 37k people in the area. We took preorders at the time and I asked people to ring or drop me a message and I’d get back to them with a time slot when they could collect. My phone did not stop ringing from the moment I put the initial post up and we sold all of our slots within 6hrs.
At Marsh Farm Hotel we made it easy and safe for customers to order by booking a time slot to collect their order and providing their car's registration number and colour over the phone. We then matched their order to their car and when they arrived in the car park, they paid at the front gate and left their boot open. Once their order was ready, we placed the pizzas, drinks, and other items directly in their car's boot, all whilst socially distancing, they were good to go!
Week in and week out we would beat our targets and things got busier and busier serving hundreds of pizzas each day we operated.
Now, we tend to focus on our private events but still attend the odd pop-up location every now and then and we love what we do.
This wouldn’t have been possible without my amazing staff members and helpers over the years -
